The Mesozoic Era also means the “Middle Life Era.” It’s nickname is the “Age of Reptiles.” The era went from 252 MYA to 66 MYA. Weather in the Mesozoic era was much warmer than now. On Pangea there was lots of temperature swings. The carbon dioxide in the atmosphere grew, and it trapped the heat making arth hotter. Once Pangea split, there was more coastline, which caused the climate to be more stable. The continents changed a lot during this time. Sea levels rose and caused floods which made Pangea split into two other big continents called Laurasia and Gondwana. Laurasia and Gondwana ended up splitting into modern continents.
In the Mesozoic Era coniferous plants became bountiful. Reptiles living on land eventually adapted to water. At the end of the era, there was a mass extinction. Possible causes include global cooling, meteor impact, sea-level changes, and oxygen exhaustion. Several million years recovery was needed from this exctinction.
