Ediacarans were the first multi celled animals. They grew on seabed. There were also underwater plants.
The Precambrian Time is the first and longest era. It started 4.6 BYA and ended 544 MYA. The Precambrian Time is also known as the “Age of Early Life.” There is icy cold periods, and warm periods. The two switched off on Earth. There were extensive glaciers near the poles. Over all, there was not one steady climate in the Precambrian time. The continents and landforms in the Precambrian time looked very different than they do now. All the continents were bunched together into one giant land mass in between the Panthalassic and the Panafrican oceans. The giant continent was almost rectangular shaped. About half of the continent was on each side of the equator. When Earth cooled from it’s molten state it caused a solid crust to form on Earth. The giant continent did seperate into more continents as the era progressed. Earth sure has changed a lot.
Earth’s first multi celled animals happened 600 MYA. They were called Ediacarans and grew on seabed. They only had very simple digestive systems. The power of the sun made photosynthisis, which led plant life to grow on land. This eventually caused animal life to be able to live on land. The sun was very important to the development of life. At the end of the Precambrian time the Vendian exctinttion occured. All algae and soft bodied animals went extinct. The extinction was caused by changes in sea level and lowered oxygen levels. This might have been how the Ediacarans died out.
